The “Amami Dorozome” collection from Studio D’artisan is a limited assortment of garments that have been dyed on the island of Amami shima using the traditional Japanese mud-dye technique of dorozome. This artisanal technique combines vegetable tannins with mud to create an earth tone unique to each garment. The Amami region is prized for its soil rich with iron, allowing for widely varied shades of brown and better longevity. Crafted using heavy USA-grown cotton, SDA t-shirts sport a sleek texture and substantial hand feel. Expertly tie-dyed to produce a ring design, this shirt will continue to fade and transform with continued wear.
