Fitz

This is the jacket Fitz was wearing after he got back from summiting Piz Bernina in the Eastern Alps. Conditions were apparently quite hairya recent heatwave had caused considerable melting.

Then of course there was the storm, he says, in that very Fitz way. Hes smiling, but its no laughing matter. I havent quite figured out this particular smile yet; I just know it alludes to something ominous.

Fitz has lost many friends to the Alps. Its a life I dont fully understand, but then again, I dont have to. Its his journey. The risks, too. He accepts them. Im the first to admit that not all risk is created equal.

Neither are all men.

Eiger Shirt Jacket (No. G1015). Handsome, warm weather-beating, and season-spanning featherweight layer. Constructed of expedition-grade, Italian down-proof nylon. Quilted with 750-fill-power premium European white goose down. Water-resistant. Breathable. The details, which Im sure Fitz mulled over considerably, include elbow patches,rubber-coated snaps, microfleece-lined collar stand and cuffs, and hand pockets with zippers. Easily stows for travel (or rolls to make an adequate pillow). Designed in Mill Valley. Made in Romania.
